Bronwyn Arundel

Full time and professional potter Bronwyn Arundel is the owner and operator of Nanaimo Ceramic Arts Studio and Gallery located on Chapel St. in downtown Nanaimo. Making fun and functional pottery, her work features landscapes and hand drawn animals. The nature-based subject of her pottery has a playful narrative that pulls a little at the imagination and hopefully creates new moments of joy in it's use. Bronwyn studied at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University, she opened Nanaimo Ceramic Arts in 2018 which has pottery and art classes, a gallery space and artist-in-residence program. Come and see Bronwyn throwing different shapes and sizes of work during Arts on the Avenue.

Printmakers of the Salish Sea

The Printmakers of the Salish Sea are a collective group who are passionate about printmaking. Focusing on methods and materials that are non-toxic and eco-friendly, they embrace sharing, learning, creating and encouraging the growing interest and appreciation for original art that is affordable and attainable. Printmaker Leslie Mobbs will give demos on the art of Linocut Printmaking. Learn about how these unique prints are created, materials used, design elements and more. Louise Slobodan will demonstrate drypoint printing with a small press. A great opportunity to learn about this form of art and classes and workshops offered at the Ladysmith Print Studio.

Tzouhalem Spinners & Weavers Guild

At Arts on The Avenue, take in the fibre arts action taking place in the demo tent of the Tzouhalem Spinners & Weavers Guild! Visitors curious about the mechanics of making cloth can try their hand at weaving on a small loom. Market-goers will also be able to admire how fine threads are spun on wheels and spindles. And will they also hear the 'click/clack' of knitting needles? Of course!

Val Galvin

Val Galvin is a fibre artist from Chemainus B.C. Val has been creating hooked and braided rugs for over 40 years. Val uses mostly recycled fabrics to create one of a kind masterpieces for the floor. Val will be demonstrating the art of Rug Hooking as well as Rug braiding. On hand she will have examples of her rugs for sale as well as other items made from recycled fabrics. Drop by her tent and try your hand at this old time craft.
