Collage sourced from my own photographs. Often embellished with ink or paint. Physical or 'manual' rather than 'digital' assembly. Scissors used. Various surfaces - photo paper, canvas, currently experimenting with metal.
Growing up in Alberta, I was surrounded by the wild beauty of the prairies and the ruggedness of the Rockies. With these as my backyard, they have influenced my style and given me a strong appreciation for the raw beauty of the life around me. While wildlife and nature are my main focal points, I also enjoy working on portraits and graphic design. Each one presents its own unique challenges.
Bryony lampwork glass beads are created for you using fire to melt and shape glass. Offering a variety of items: funky, one-of-a-kind glass bead jewellery: the ever-popular Regaliz leather bracelets; small sun catchers and so much more.
Karen’s one-of-a-kind vessels are hand-formed using a variety of methods, such as pinch,coil and slab work. Thoughtful applications of different glazes and stains are used to
render depth and create textures that invite touch and endeavor to captivate the viewer. Each piece is given, through it creation, a “ personality” that aims to elicit an emotional response and evoke humor.
